The University Information Technology Services (UITS) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), has introduced a unified digital platform designed to centralize and streamline fundraising and endowment management across the university.

Deputy Director of the Software Division at UITS, Mr. Kofi Ankar-Brewoo, explained that the platform was developed in response to longstanding requests for a standardized system to manage donations and endowment funds.
“Over the years there have been several requests for an app or a portal to receive donations for several endowment funds. So, we decided to build a unified system to take care of these requests,” he said.
He noted that the engagement was intended to introduce the platform and gather stakeholder feedback to refine its features.

Mr. Emmanuel Mfum-Mensah, Head of Data Analytics, highlighted the growing importance of fundraising in supporting university development, pointing to fragmented systems that have made it difficult to track donations and generate comprehensive reports.
“Currently, we have different silos of platforms, fragmented donation records, and difficulty in reporting,” he said.
The new system provides a centralised and scalable solution to support fundraising efforts across departments, colleges, halls of residence and other university units.
It integrates multiple payment solutions, offers real-time reporting, and serves as a single source of truth, improving transparency and accountability.
“This system gives a unified interface to manage and monitor all fundraising efforts,” he added.
Mr. Mfum-Mensah further indicated that the system enables units to independently manage their fundraising campaigns while maintaining oversight through a central database. It also supports rapid deployment, allowing fundraising portals to be created within a day once approvals are secured.

Senior Software Developer at UITS, Mr. Ishmael Kwaw Obeng, led the software demonstration, allowing stakeholders to test the platform and provide feedback to support its refinement and full implementation.
He explained how units can be onboarded, campaigns configured, and donation pages customized.
He added that the platform supports real-time tracking of donations, highlights top donors, and generates detailed reports for audit and reconciliation. Administrators can also activate or deactivate campaigns, while donors receive automated confirmation receipts after transactions.
